My name is Kevin Klott and I teach 7th grade language arts at Goldenview Middle School in Anchorage, Alaska. I teach four sections of language arts and an elective called video announcements (communications). This is my third year teaching at Goldenview, but sixth overall. I spent a year teaching in Minneapolis and two years teaching English as a foreign language in rural Costa Rica as a Peace Corps volunteer. Before I became a teacher, I worked as a sports writer at the Anchorage Daily News for nearly seven years, covering anything from high school sports to sled dog racing. I earned a bachelor’s degree in journalism at Western Michigan University in Kalamazoo, Mich. (my hometown), and a Masters of Arts in Teaching at the University of Alaska Southeast.
When I’m not working, I enjoy going cross-country skiing, camping, hiking, running and biking with my wife and son. And when I want to just get away from it all, fly fishing is what I do best.
I entered the ONID program for professional as well as personal growth. My primary goal of this program is to do a better job integrating technology into my classroom. My secondary goal is to some day teach online English courses to students in Anchorage and rural Alaska.
